Stephanie Guy was born in Brooklyn, NY as the heiress to Gospel Music Royalty, the legendary Lorraine Stancil – Lawson. As the daughter of one of the country’s most incredible soprano voices, and the younger sibling of the world renown bass player, Kevin Stancil – ‘Steph’ as she is most commonly referred to, was raised to adore Gospel music, but was taught to appreciate the magnificence of all genres, understanding that as the universal language, music speaks to everyone differently – and that God’s presence is so large that it can be felt through various forms of instrumentation.
As such, Steph grew in her musicianship as a well sought after drummer and vocalist, featured on various albums as lead vocalist and background. Most recently, her musician Spotify led to her role as the lead vocalist in Dancing In The Streets – a Motown revue show touring America and Canada, depicting vocal stylings of Martha Reeves. In addition to her love for music, Steph is also a prolific and inspirational writer whose recent internet popularity based on her daily inspirational quotes titled ‘Here’s the Truth’ has spread nationwide.
Though raised in the church, and as a licensed and ordained minister of the gospel, she realized that some would never come to the actual building, but even they deserve an opportunity to heal at their own pace. As such, she has developed and maintained an inspirational, interfaith blog entitled ‘Here’s the Truth Daily’ where she shares practical life tips on how to sustain faith, practice self-care and maintain healthy relationships.
In the near future, her goal is to be a published author and travel the world sharing her story of overcoming with men and women who may feel helpless and hopeless. Steph’s childlike faith and unwavering trust in God has called forth miracles and wonders in her life – which is why she lives happily and optimistically by her favorite scripture: Psalms 20:7, ‘Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, BUT WE TRUST IN THE NAME OF THE LORD OUR GOD’.
